My car temp gauge goes hot up and down, why ?

i have a 1999 honda civic dx coupe, i recently had timing-belt changed with water pump, also changed thermostat. the radiator is fine, no leaks, the fan works- it turns on. i drive the car and the temp gauge goes up to high/red hot, dont know why?

flush the radiator to get air out of the lines then change thermostat to a higher temp thermostat 185-195 degree ask the auto parts if they make 1 for your vehicle and do a manual jump of the fan to make sure it works..........if you ran it hot before you changed all of those parts then i would say head gasket ....you didn't mention water in the oil........autozone.com has an online manual with a troubleshooting section to help you figure it out

Check coolant and oil levels. Make sure they are at the levels and color they are supposed to be at. You probably blew a headgasket. You could try a block sealer to possibly get more life out of it. but the real fix would be to have the engine rebuilt.
a blown head gasket can cause the problem you describe...
Given the work that you just did (I assume it didn't do this prior to the work?) you probably have an air pocket in the cooling system. Possibly a faulty thermostat.
HEAD gasket....replace the head gasket dont use the head gasket repair...it is dangerous.
