I have a 1994 honda civic. I changed my therostat, and radiator. My car's thermostat gauge goes straight up in?

a matter of minutes it seems. when it got to the red line yesterday, i popped the hood and usually when a car overheat smoke comes out. And when i open my head there is no smoke or coolant overflow. my car doesnt have any leaks. i did notice when i checked the oil that there was a very small amount of smoke from the engine, so the engine was hot. Not sure what else to do. What could it be??? I have no white smoke from pipe, the oil is fine, coolant color is normal. fans are working???

2 thing you didn't mention, the water pump gone bad or/coolant temperature sensor not working. Both things happen.

head gasket is junk
Replace the water pump. Do the timing belt at the same time if it hasn't been replaced yet.
check this when the car is cold turn on the key , is the temp Gage showing cold or does it show alot of temp possible the sensor shifted and you did not over temp at all ,, this just happened to me .
