it could be several things like is the thermostat in right, does the fan kick on, the radiator might need flushing and yes the water pump can do it too. even if the belt is too lose it can cause it to overheat.

love these people but always best to start simple...unless your just gona throw parts at it untill you replace everything
1 go to mechanic...have %26quot;leak down%26quot; test done
2 check fan[s] working?
3 how many miles? maybe it is the water pump.
4 radiator...did you reverse flush it?
5 tuned up? misfire can make more heat
6 oil..keep full and clean...it helps cool
7 NOW oil in water? water in oil? head gasget problem
POSSIBLY THE THERMOSTAT WAS INSTALLE WRONG OR HEAD GASKET, WATER PUMP. DOES THE OVERHEATING HAPPEN FAST(A FEW MINUTES AFTER IT STARTED) OR DOES IT TAKE AWHILE, FANS MIGHT NOT BE WORKING ALSO. CHECK WITH THE LOCAL MECHANICS SHOP. SMALL DIAG MIGHT BE NEEDED
Try getting new radiator cap. Then add some coolant additive called Water Wetter to coolant. It will lower operating temp. by 20 degree's.
Try a new radiator cap, and check the front of the water pump for any drip near the weep hole.
overheat is from non circulation/check the pump and check for head gasket lks
