My car (THINKS) it is overheating but its not. My computer says it is and shuts my car down.?

I just asked this question but I thought I should explain it better. I have changed the computer, thermostat, Oxygen sensor Temperature sending unit. Not even the Oldsmobile dealer can figure it out. The dealer said it was the computer but changing it 3 times they decided it was not.

Try the coolant temp sensor. My car (95 saturn sl2) has two coolant temp sensors. One controls the gauge on the dash and the other sends info to the computer for the purpose of adjusting things like the cold idle and the rich/lean mixture of fuel and air.

Obviously, this has an effect on the temperature of the car, so it is worth checking out.

I just changed mine about a week ago...$9 at Auto Zone.

What kind of car is it?
best i could say is a bad coolant temp sensor, a bad ground wire, or a short in a wire.
the only thing that will shut it down like that is the computer ,so something has to be telling the computer that the car is over heating, either a bad temp gage will do this or the sending unit,or a short in the wire going to the temp sender, all this will need to be checked,i repaired a cavalier that was doing this once and it turned out to be a faulty sensor that i had bought and put on it,but it showed no signs of being bad until i checked it with an ohm meter, good luck with it,this one may be hard to figure out.
Every time you change the control mechanism for the airconditioning system the computer has to be rebooted to accept the%26quot;new%26quot; program.
