My car is overheating, what could it be?

I have a 96 ford taurus and it has been overheating. It was boiling over when sitting still and I had the thermostat changed and the radiator replaced. It is still overheating but doesnt seem to be boiling like before. What could it be? Is it dangerous to keep driving it? It seems to be ok while moving but bad when sitting at a light...

check to see if your radiator cooling fans are coming on. they should come on at 215-220 degrees. if they are not coming on check to see if they are getting fire to them if they are not then it could be the ect(engine cooling temp sensor). if it is getting fire then you need a fan motor.

They may not have put the right temperature thermostat in your vehicle. This is the cheap fix.

If it is the right temp. thermostat, it might be something more heinous, it could be a leaking intake manifold. Or a blown head gasket. If it is a leaking intake maniford gasket, it usually leaks at the back of your engine. If it is a head gasket you will find your oil dipstick has a whitish or cloudy looking oil on it. Or your water in your radiator will have oil in it.

Your radiator fan is not working. It is suppose to turn on when standing still to cool the engine. Here are some of the possible failure:

(1) radiator fan fuse

(2) radiator fan

(3) radiator fan relay

(4) radiator fan wires

Good Luck....
I have worked on Fords for many, many years. When we hear Ford Taurus and overheating, it is the head gasket(s). They are notorious for blowing out. Take it to a shop to be 100% sure, but most likely that is what it is. Especially if you have the 3.8 engine.
MORE THAN LIKELY YOU HAVE AIR IN YOUR SYSTEM AND IT ISN'T LETTING YOUR FLUIDS FLOW PROPERLY.TO FIX THE PROBLEM JACK THE CAR UP ON THE SIDE YOUR RADIATOR CAP IS ON AND TAKE THE CAP OFF AND CRANK THE CAR AND LET IT GET WARM AND THEN START ADDING FLUIDS THIS WILL LET THE AIR ESCAPE FROM THE SYSTEM. AFTER FILLING LET THE JACK DOWN AND REPLACE THE CAP.LET RUN TO CHECK IF THIS SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM.
if u had the radiator replaced then u should have frsh coolent....maybe check ur gaskets.
Hole in one of the hoses.........or not tight enough..
