I have a chrysler 300m 2001. As I was driving down the street, steam started coming into the vents and spewing antifreeze from under the hood as my resivor/temperature light came on. I drove home and parked it. What is wrong? My ex boyfriend says it was proably the thermostat because the air went out first and that it needs to be changed, do you think this is the case? Do you think it would be costly given the type of car, I am on a very tight budget this week.
My car was spewing anit-freeze, what happened?
thermostat and gasket - about 15.00
Time to replace - about 1/2 hour.
on a scale of 1-10 (10 being very hard) this is about a 2.
And this is prob the issue for yours

It does sound like a thermostat, and that is usually the problem. It may also be a bad water pump, cooling fan or just a slipping belt.
it could be one of 3 things - the water pump, the radiator or the thermostat. to me it sounds like the water pump. good luck!
one of yer hoses has hole in it
The thermostat is a very easy thing to change out. But I must tell you if you take it to the shop it will cost more there then if you go buy the part for about 5.00 and have your boyfriend do it.
